BIOGRAPHY - DOGS
In 1970 I was given "Crumpet" as a Birthday present. She was purchased from a Newspaper ad because she had gotten "too big" for the family's home.
She was six months old and began my journey with this beloved breed. Shortly after acquiring her, I purchased a "show" puppy "McGee". He was by the top OES at the time in Michigan. Thus began the learning curve.
I acquired several dogs over the next couple of years, none were really show quality, and a few had some serious temperament issues.
I traveled to New York to the OES National Specialty and fell in love with the dogs from Bahlambs kennels. Shortly after that trip, I was given the opportunity to move to Maryland and work for Caj Haakanson and became involved for three years with Bahlambs. Caj was a wonderful teacher reviewing pedigrees and many old photos.
I left Bahlambs and moved into Washington D.C. and began my career as an Executive Recruiter. I had little time for any kind of breeding program over the next couple of years, but always had an OES or two with me.
Over the past twenty-five to thirty years, I have co-owned and bred or co-bred over fifty OES Confirmation Champions and I have finished two obedience Champions.
My breeding philosophy is pretty simple. I want people to have a well-rounded pet with all the breed characteristics which means the delightful, funny temperaments that were intended in this breed. Along with their temperaments, they should have glorious health and well-being.
In 2004, I applied for my Judges license for OES. I made the decision to Judge because I love the dogs and know that as a breeder, this is one thing I can do to continue enjoying the dogs. I have added a few additional breeds over the years.
In 2007, I was offered the opportunity to Judge the Australian Old English Sheepdog Club National Specialty. It was truly and honor and a chance to see another side of dog showing and meet with some truly wonderful people and dogs. It was a fabulous journey, one that I will always remember. The Australians are gracious and gave me a beautiful entry.
Today I look back over the many years in dogs and treasure my memories at dog shows, with fellow breeders, but most of all my beloved dogs.
I have achieved my goals and then some. I've bred over 50 OES Champions, including BIS and BISS dogs. I've bred 15 Norfolk Champions including BISS Norfolks.
I am now licensed to Judge Old English Sheepdogs, and a few other breeds.
I've been privileged to Judge Regional Specialties of Bearded Collies and OES.
Today I live in Virginia with five OES and two Norfolk terriers.
I have puppies occasionally, and am always available to assist someone in their search for the right companion.
